A stunning circular spiralling sculpture in mirrored stainless steel with Corten plinth
About the project
We were thrilled when approached by our client to design and fabricate this stunning mirrored stainless steel sculpture. The intent was entirely that of the client and it proved a highly successful collaboration.
At 1.2m Diameter, 2.0m when mounted on its Corten plinth, this stunning sculpture formed the perfect centre piece for an avenue vista in the clients garden. Made from 3mm thick 316 grade Stainless Steel, the chosen finish was a mirrored polish to reflect the planting around it.
The sleek design appears relatively simple on first inspection but is incredibly complex. Not just circular, it is a spiral with the structure stepped at the base where it is thicker than at the apex.
Not just a 2 dimensional ring, it is a hollow section of a triangular profile meaning the outer and inner faces are spirals, the front and rear faces spiralling cones. All needed to be precisely cut and rolled before welding.
The mirrored finish is the hardest finish to achieve, even the slightest defect or deflection will be visible. This perfect seamless construction is testament to the skill of the fabricators and our passion for perfection.
