About the project

This roof terrace garden was created by landscape designers Bowles & Wyer for a top-floor penthouse at 190 Strand, a prestigious residential development in the heart of London’s Theatreland.

We engineered and manufactured the 12-metre-long structural ‘ribbon’ that flows through the design, comprising nine planters in a range of sizes that also incorporate seating, a breakfast bar and the main panel and supporting framework for a freestanding ‘green wall’. All were fabricated in 3mm aluminium for longevity and weight-saving, and powder-coated in Anodic Bronze, which contains metallic flecks to create an authentic, lustrous bronze finish. The various elements are bolted together to produce a smooth, seamless look.

All the components had to be lifted into position using a mobile crane, which was subject to strictly time-limited permits and local road closures. We therefore had to co-ordinate closely with other contractors and ensure everything was delivered on-site in perfect condition and precisely on time.
