About the project

We were privileged to be invited to collaborate on the Morris & Co Garden by designer Ruth Willmott for the 2022 Chelsea Flower Show.

The show garden was inspired by the Arts & Craft visionary William Morris and included highly detailed and complex metalworking elements.

The main pavilion structure measured 7m x 3m x 3.5m high. Within the structure were decorative laser cut panels in the “Willow Boughs” wall paper pattern, each formed in a laminate of 3 aluminium panels, bonded together in contrasting Metallic Red and Metallic Gold powder coated finishes.

The pattern was repeated in a reduced scale for the cladding of the pavilion frame again in contrasting powder coated finishes.

The 3 water rill sections fabricated from stainless steel featured concealed inlet blades and vertical outlet panels. The repeated laser cut pattern providing texture to the rills adding movement to the water flow.

The process from initial design consultation to delivery was in excess of 12 months and the Gold Medal won was richly deserved.
